String Inverter

A string inverter is an inverter with one or more Maximum Power Point (MPP) trackers. One or more strings can be connected to each tracker. Several strings with the same roof orientation and pitch (multi-strings) can be connected to an MPP tracker. It is also possible to connect multi-strings, i.e. several strings with different roof orientation and/or inclination, the same number of modules and the same module type. String inverter technology is the most common.

There are also module inverters that feed energy from each module into the household grid. There are also inverters without MPP trackers, which require optimizers at module level to perform the tracking task. All types of inverters convert the DC voltage from the PV modules into AC voltage for the grid.

The operation of a string inverter is based on the series connection of several solar modules to form a so-called string. The inverter converts the direct current generated by the modules into alternating current that can be fed into the public grid.

String inverters are an efficient solution for PV systems of different sizes because they can combine several modules into a single string. This allows for easy installation and optimized use of solar energy.

An advantage of string inverters is their scalability. Depending on the size of the PV system, several strings with different numbers of modules can be connected in parallel to achieve the desired power output. This makes string inverters flexible and adaptable to the specific requirements of the PV system.

The use of string inverters enables efficient energy conversion and reliable supply of solar power to the grid. Their functionality and flexibility make them a popular choice for a wide range of PV systems, from small residential installations to large commercial installations.

String inverters provide a cost-effective solution for DC to AC conversion in photovoltaic systems. Their scalability and adaptability allow optimized use of solar energy, helping to increase the energy output and profitability of PV systems.
