Solar Irradiation

When designing a photovoltaic system, it is important to align the solar modules as closely as possible to the position of the sun and therefore to the incoming light. In Germany, maximum solar irradiation is achieved when the solar modules are facing south at an angle of 30°. The energy yield can be increased if the solar modules are mounted on movable supports, known as tracking systems: These allow the solar modules to continuously adjust to the current position of the sun, depending on the time of year and day.
