Open-Circuit Voltage
Open circuit voltage (OCV or VOC) is the electrical voltage of a solar cell or module when no load is connected. This value, listed on the module data sheet, indicates the maximum voltage of the module. When commissioning a photovoltaic system, measuring the open-circuit voltages of individual modules or a string of modules connected in series helps to confirm that the system is functioning correctly.
The open circuit voltage of a solar module is affected by the temperature of the modules, as reflected in the temperature coefficient.
