Depth of Discharge (DoD)
The Depth of Discharge (DoD) of a battery indicates the percentage of its nominal capacity that can be used without reducing its lifespan. A full 100% discharge, known as a deep discharge, can damage the battery. To ensure the specified lifespan, manufacturers recommend a DoD value, typically ranging from 50% for lead-acid batteries to 95% for lithium-ion batteries.
For Example
Storage capacity of the battery = 10 kWh, 9.5 kWh usable -> DoD = 95
