Sungrow iHomeManager: What does the new EMS have to offer?

Sungrow is now offering its proprietary (home) energy management system ((H)EMS), the iHomeManager, which controls and optimizes PV systems with the help of AI. The compatible residential EMS is suitable for Sungrow-only systems, SG-Ready heat pumps and home storage systems from third-party manufacturers. In this guide, you can find out what the Sungrow iHomeManager can do and for which users it is particularly interesting.
What is the Sungrow iHomeManager?
The iHomeManager is a forecast-based energy management system for private PV systems that controls and optimizes all consumers (PV storage, wallbox and heat pump) intelligently. The intelligent load control increases self-consumption and can increase the PV yield by up to 10%.
The Sungrow iHomeManager consists of 2 components: One is the physical device, which you simply install on the DIN rail. You connect it to the inverter via:
- Modbus RS485 (2 channels)
- LAN/Ethernet
- Wi-Fi
The EMS then connects to the Sungrow data cloud within 60 seconds.
Which technology is behind the iHomeManager?
The second part of the system is the software: The Artificial Intelligence Based System operates within the device: a system based on artificial intelligence that Sungrow has developed just for the iHomeManager. The AI-supported software uses intelligent learning processes to process consumption, power flows and other data (e.g. weather data) in real time. The iHomeManager uses this data to optimize energy flows in the household.
With what devices is the Sungrow iHomeManager compatible?
One of the great advantages of the system is its compatibility: the iHomeManager not only shows its strengths in the Sungrow ecosystem, but can also control PV batteries and SG-Ready heat pumps from common manufacturers via the Sungrow inverter. This also makes it suitable for existing mixed systems.
You can connect up to 5 inverters with a total output of max. 50 kW to the EMS. It is compatible with the following Sungrow hybrid inverters:
What are the advantages of the Sungrow iHomeManager?
With the iHomeManager, your customers optimize their own consumption and save electricity costs. But that's not all—here are the 7 most important benefits at a glance:
- AI control system
The Sungrow AI system independently optimizes energy flows. To do this, it collects data on energy consumption and production, integrates the household's individual requirements, and combines this information with a 72-hour weather forecast to plan electricity consumption. In the future, the Sungrow iHomeManager will also be able to process dynamic electricity tariffs. - Compatibility
The iHomeManager is suitable for a Sungrow-only system consisting of an inverter, storage system and wallbox as well as for mixed consumer configurations with home storage systems and SG-Ready heat pumps from compatible manufacturers. - Ready for modern charging stations
The Sungrow iHomeManager enables Sungrow hybrid inverters from the SHT and SH-T series to work together with the powerful Sungrow EV Charger 22 kW wallbox. - Easy to install
Installing the Sungrow iHomeManager on the DIN rail is very straightforward. Wall mounting is also possible. It supports wireless and wired networking, so you have many options for installation. Thanks to the integrated meter, you don't have to wire an additional meter. - Smart control via app
You can access the EMS directly via the Sungrow iSolarCloud using an app or PC—ideal for remote maintenance, fault analysis and monitoring. - Strong data security
The iHomeManager meets the requirements of the IT security standard ETSI EN 303 645 and is fully compliant with GDPR. You can find all information on data protection in PV in our guide.
Who should use the Sungrow iHomeManager?
The more consumers a household has, the more the Sungrow energy management system pays off. The efficiency gain through optimized self-consumption and smart-controlled electricity flows is of course greatest for households with a PV battery, SG-Ready heat pump and Sungrow Wallbox. But the Sungrow iHomeManager is also worthwhile for smaller systems without full sector coupling. It is the right choice for these 3 specific applications:
- Existing Sungrow systems
Households that already rely on Sungrow energy storage systems and wallboxes can easily optimize their power consumption with the iHomeManager and make monitoring much easier. Thanks to its simple installation, the Sungrow EMS is an intuitive upgrade that shows positive effects immediately in terms of self-consumption. - Existing systems of mixed manufacturers
You are probably familiar with many mixed systems from your day-to-day work: a Sungrow inverter combined with a BYD home storage system and perhaps an SG-Ready heat pump. Such households benefit from the compatibility of the Sungrow iHomeManager: They can upgrade their PV system completely with an EMS and do not have to buy a new storage system for a dedicated ecosystem. - New systems with Sungrow inverters
The Sungrow iHomeManager makes Sungrow inverters even more attractive—with minimal effort you can make them even more future-proof and ready for the Sungrow EV Charger 22 kW and, in the future, for dynamic electricity tariffs.
Conclusion: Why is the Sungrow iHomeManager a good choice?
The Sungrow iHomeManager is a clever upgrade for anyone who wants to get more out of their PV system - whether for existing or new systems. Households benefit from smart load distribution, simple monitoring and optimized power consumption. Whether full sector coupling with heat pump, storage and wallbox or smaller systems—the Sungrow EMS optimizes self-consumption and makes PV systems future-proof.
